Scientists find 'pleasure nerves'

Holy fucking... I just had to pull this excerpt out — the second line of the story.

"And people had to be stroked at a certain speed - 4-5cm per second - to activate the pleasure sensation."

Oh, man. Seriously, BBC?

sirron881 says
I have to stroke faster than the study speed to achieve pleasure...
agentsrecord says
I discovered my pleasure nerves when I was 13. Does that make me a scientist?
bonarez asks
If they really located the G-spot why don't they just tell us where it is?

Area 51 insiders speak out

Aliens and sci-fi mysteries never get old, it seems. These interviews with former Area 51 employees garned a great deal of interest last week. It didn't contain any of the sort of fanatical alien chitchat. But it did talk about secret government goodies, like spyplanes.

captainXscalora says
I was hoping for aliens, but was disappointed.
udayd's brutal honesty is much appreciated
honestly, i just dugg this so i could read it tomorrow

i'm drunk and don't really give a fuck right now.

if there are no aliens or pussy in this article i'm going to bury it.

AIDS: The gay plague

Probably not the most politically correct entry to the science fair, but at least this fine lassie won a medal for it. Oh, and apparently, "man-on-horse" is A-OK in this kid's (and school's book).

Of course, I don't want to completely kill your faith in the American educational system. This is, as you might have guessed, Photoshopped. The girl has posted a picture of her actual project on her blog.

Start calling Pluto an asteroid

Not really sure who "friends of Pluto" are. Probably just your average weirdos. Or aliens. Uh oh! Do you think? No! It couldn't be. Could it?

Color red proven to make men horny

I love science research with little to no realistic application to science. Researchers at the University of Rochester found that men are more likely to go for a woman wearing red. So, that lady in the red dress is clearly hotter than the bombshell in blue. Right.

tads73 says

foambullet says

You know what else makes men horny? Everything.

feralape asks

.... oh really? Your Grandmother makes you horny? What about your Mother or Sister? well, ok, Mothers are gross and we should probably exclude sisters from this- but you know what I'm saying.

foambullet replies

Great, now I have a boner at work...

feralape suggests

Try covering it up with a book.

Unknown insect discovered on eBay

What a buy! Scientist Richard Harrington won an online auction for an insect frozen in some Han Solo carbonate, I think. The $20 insect turned out to be a long extinct and previously undiscovered species, which makes you feel kind of bad for that Lithuanian who probably bought it at a gift shop and had to pawn it off to buy rice.

Turkish man believes his ant farms can predict earthquakes

Ant farms may be as cool or as prevalent today as sea monkeys, but some Turkish guy is using his for good, not evil. Kadir Sutcu is using his ant farm to predict earthquakes, and he actually hit one on the money recently. When his ants start pushing daisies, he knows it's time to GTFO. He even sent out emails. Scientists researched the phenomenon and found absolutely nothing supporting the insect psychic claim, but you can't fault the guy for trying!

Surferess says
You can always count on the scientists to come in and ruin a good story with facts and evidence and stuff! They're such buzz kills!
VKMO says
I dunno, who do we believe? The scientists or the ants?
alapoet wants a fair trial
I want to hear the ants tell their side of the story.

When pigs really do fly

Those crazy Russians are at it again. Rather, they were at it 60 years ago. Rather, this never actually happened. But it's fun to pretend it did! This photo timeline depicts members of Russian army liquoring up a pig, putting it inside a crock pot, launching the little bastard sky high, and then saluting their lord Satan. Okay, maybe it doesn't show that last part, but you know it happened.

Cow farts collected in plastic tank for global warming study

You just can't make this stuff up. Unless the Telegraph is making it up, which is very well possible. Argentine scientists discovered that gas released from cow butts account for 30% of the country's total greenhouse gas emissions. Thirty percent. Are they riding cows to work, and using these pre-hamburger animals to power factories?

With such a startling statistic, it was obvious what the next course of action was: strap giant, pink, plastic tubes to the back of every cow and attach a tube to their stink hole. Digg's scientific community gives its assessment.

France plans revolution in space

Photo courtesy of the Associated PressViva la revolucion!

France urges the European Union to step up its game on space exploration, or Asia is going to beat them to placing flags on planets and shit. Some fairly obvious comments follow, but somebody had to say it.

Scientists say Martian soil could support life

Photo courtesy of ReutersYes, this is the second Mars story on this blog, but the whole "other planet having water" thing is kind of a big deal. Especially now that scientists are concluding that the planet's surface could, indeed, support life. This means there could be an entire colony of Marvin the Martians waiting to smash our billion-dollar space robot to bits. Wall-E better hope there's not life up there.

Rizzen might be jumping the gun
See guys, its okay, we can trash this planet and just move on!
SilenceIsFoo agrees, with one small caveat
Yeah. We just have to figure out how to get around that whole breathing oxygen thing.
Someone mentions some vegetable, and people like jimmaculate never let it go

Earth Will Survive After All, Physists Say

Photo courtesy of aussiegall via Flickr
Good news from the scientific community: our planet will not, I repeat, will not be crushed into nonexistence by an enormous black hole. Digg has the full scoop on the man-made particle accelerator that will go into effect next fall, a device previously suspected to cause the end of being. Though the jury is still out on whether the future of Earth is a positive development.

alapoet (blog) is understandably pleased with the positive outlook
Well, that's certainly welcome news!
Despite the good news, DigDigg55 remains skeptical
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
glinsvad might have used slightly different wording in his review
I wonder if this is the first time the phrase "planet-gobbling black hole" has been used in a safety review...
GLMonkey has seen the phrase before
Actually, it is the second time, the first time was when they did a safety review of the Rosie O'Donnell Show...
